How Vegan is Good for Health

Leading health experts agree that going vegan is the single best thing that we can do for ourselves and our families. Plant-based diets provide us with all the nutrients that we need, but without the saturated fat, cholesterol, hormones, antibiotics, and contaminants found in meat and dairy products.

Some of the health benefits include:

  • Increases life expectancy by up to 15 years
  • Lowers blood pressure
  • Lowers cholesterol levels
  • Prevents stroke conditions
  • Reverses atherosclerosis
  • Prevents infertility
  • Strengthens immune system
  • Prevents animal-product-derived and animal-borne (zoonotic) diseases: 75% of new diseases come from animals.

Meat and associated production processes enable and/or originate such diseases as H1N1 (Swine flu), Bird flu, Mad cow disease, Bluetongue disease, E coli, Salmonella, etc.

Vegan Lifestyle promotes longevity, health, intelligence and balance.

How Vegan Saves Lives

Did you know that by adopting a vegan diet, you are saving the lives of both humans and animals?

One in six human beings suffer from hunger and malnutrition; some 25,000 people die per day as a direct result of these conditions, or related consequences – more than at any other time in history. Rising food prices have plunged an additional 75 million people below the hunger threshold, bringing the estimated number of undernourished people worldwide to 923 million in 2007.

But are we really short of food? 1/3 of the world’s cereal harvest and over 90% of soya is used for animal feed, despite inherent inefficiencies. The grain currently fed to livestock is enough to feed 2 billion people.

By choosing vegan, each year we can:

  • Feed 5 times more people
  • Save 1 billion starving people
  • Save 55 billion animals worldwide
  • Stop world hunger
  • Stop animal cruelty
  • Conserve clean water
  • Consume less fossil fuels
  • Save the rainforest
  • Reduce pollution
  • Sunshine Teriyaki Burger
  • Maintain cleaner air
  • Stop global warming

How Vegan is the Solution to Climate Change

Eating veg is one of the most important and effective actions you can take to help stop global warming, conserve natural resources, prevent water and air pollution, and save many, perhaps countless, species from extinction.

According to Dr. David Brubaker, PhD, at Johns Hopkins University’s Center for a Livable Future, “The way that we breed animals for food is a threat to the planet. It pollutes our environment while consuming huge amounts of water, grain, petroleum, pesticides and drugs. The results are disastrous.”

As the Sierra Club put it in their 2002 report on animal factories “violations by the meat industry add up to a rap sheet longer than War and Peace.”

Every choice we make and every bite we take affects Mother Nature.
